During year 11 I was increasingly doubtful that I would enjoy A-levels and wondered about going to college and possibly going to an Apprenticeship. Helga was incredibly helpful in pointing me in the right direction and helping me to find the right course. Her advice certainly worked – I am currently doing an apprenticeship with an industry leading construction company and studying part time for an HNC.
As a third year undergraduate it was so useful to talk through my options including masters degrees, internships and graduate scheme’s and the preparation needed.
Helga is very encouraging as a careers advisor who knows a lot about employability and tailoring your application. She provided a very thorough analysis of my CV and cover letter and I highly recommend her.
Following discussions with our son, Helga provided a comprehensive list of courses and universities that matched his wishes. After attending Open Days he chose Newcastle and now in his final year, he is delighted with his choice of both University and course. Had it not been for Helga’s suggestions he might never have considered that option.
I got great advice about choosing the right University and, most importantly, the right course. Now I’m doing the right one for me and loving it. Thank you!
Interviews were a relatively new challenge to me, and initially I was unsure how to tackle various questions. Helga was fantastic in helping to develop my delivery, with her logical and proactive approach. Being able to incorporate employer competencies within responses was especially helpful. As a result, I earned a place on the Deloitte Scholar Scheme – I’d highly recommend!
Getting a head start in understanding the undergraduate recruitment process and timelines gave me a huge advantage when I arrived at uni, leading to opportunities in my first year that other students weren’t aware of!
